The owner stayed anoyminous! To avoid being plagued.

I'd deffinately take pride, Apparantly it's a collection of 20 years.

He is Russian, that is all we know. So many patterns!

Karma will catch up with that guy if that's the case.....
And I think we can all agree that's not a normal 20 year collection! To even find that many authentic rings(if they are all authentic) let alone being able to afford to buy them! Very very nice collection! Wow

Andy used to have one of those ss/skull rings in his personal collection, I missed out on it and he sold it to someone, maybe this guy.... I was drooling for that ring!! Lucky guy whoever got it, had another real nice SS enamel that got sold as well that I loved to! Man I could look at these pictures for hours!!!

I have over 100 rings,,and I'm sure there are members here also that have broke 100. But guys,,,its not quantity!, its quality! smile

Very nice collection. I have seen it before.

I fully agree to G.

The only positive point I can make is I have patterns which are missing from this big collection!

When I said graves I meant war graves, this photograph came from a page showing the amount of battlefield graves on the eastern front there still is, and the things they are finding amongst the skulls and bones still in uniform and helmet.

I believe he started with the breakup of the Soviet Union.. Also, having the largest collection doesn't make anyone an expert..

I've collected ring since the mid 1970s and I still make plenty of mistakes. We have a member here who has collected them from way before that! , again he makes mistakes like the rest of us..

Oleg I consider a friend and has contributed photos for my book project years ago. A nice guy and a wonderful collection...

The only way we will get ahead of the counterfeiters and add authentic pieces to our collections is together..
Only by sharing our experiences and knowledge will we get ahead..

Agree100% with Gaspare- I've seen a couple large collections That have some issues- know one that's largely made of repros and other problems it turned into a major headache then a big sell down (insisted in his ads they were real And insisted on valuing them at the price he paid - needless to say he dumped the crap rings and left the hobby!!) I'd rather have one nice rare piece than 10 iffy or crappy ones. My friends here all have run across some boners but on the whole have astounding collections and I hope I'm on my way!!! Oleg has nice rings for sure- one of the worlds great collections! but I'm looking at the individual pieces- not the number. I'm really rather impressed with (did anyone else catch this?)- odal has almost 80 unique ww PATTERNS??? How many WERE there???

Westwall rings
I know at least 10 to 20 different patterns i still not own and there are still more out there.
If you will count with the variations of this pressed glas stone rings (different colour/different band)for sure there are hundrets.
A area in collecting for itself. wink

Those pressed glass- very beautiful. That purple one was something...I kno Andy has A very nice green opaque. I'm concerned about the prevalence of free stones that existed not long ago.... But for me I maybe have 5 or 6 patterns and it's not my main focus- I like skulls! That's the one ww pattern I want!

Guess it's true. "He who dies with the most toys wins!"

Had a nice time at the SOS. Don Boyle was walking by the table and I invited him to sit awhile and look at my 30.6.34 ring. To my uneducated surprise, he told me it was a nice reissue from 1940. I thought it was a huge size at 13, but he remarked that he had one that was a 15. Enormous.

Here are a few photos. I am certainly not experienced at photographing rings. I had some fun with a digit microscope and produced a few photos here too. Hans Camp received the ring as an NCO. He became an officer in 1935. His SS file does not reveal a great deal of his service other than Allgemeine SS postings. The only "service" posting was a Feldpost Number that was linked to a Geheime Feld Polizei unit that reverted to the SD in 1942.

Wow! Hey joe thank u for the pix!!! Now I love early rings, they are just unique in many ways! I'm not surprised to see a 13 in the allg ss- now a 15 size ring- that's getting really big- pushing goring size there! So I think your photos are great- I'm looking at the skull and I think (Gaspare please correct if wrong) those were cast and soldered to the die struck, then engraved and sized bands at the join seam where the solder was- these early pieces, more delicate or intricate designs- wider thinner bands- they wore out quickly-- this is remarkable condition for an early ring, heck - any ring! So the skull has in its right eye a casting depression? Or is that possibly where a stone sat? I'm noticing the difference between them and the teeth have that unique somewhat angular look to them- it's a tremendous piece joe- I'm green with envy but really glad you have shared with us-/ thank u so much!! Beautiful piece really - the crown of any collection!

Byzanti, it is an early date but as Boyle has written in the COA for me, the ring is a reissue from 1940s. Don't know about the eye socket but the digital microscope shows an awful lot of detail.

Maybe we will get lucky and see some someday- the worlds private collections of militaria dwarf the greatest museum displays.... For example- I Got to see the coat us grant wore to Appomattox. Not in a museum. Amazing piece of history.
