Hello folks, haven't been posting much lately but this one sparked my interest.. the previous owner was a bit cleaning happy but this is a very early piece fresh out of the woodwork in the west, initial brass based Eickhorn fittings and an unmarked, tapered tang blade. Believe this to be a piece purchased from a uniform and effects store by this officer, because the parts aren't finished like most Eick 1st fittings. Comments welcome! Best, Kevin.

Hi Andy, I'm not too sure about October 1935 but I know September 15, 1935 was when the Nuremberg laws went into effect, and the swastika became the national symbol of Germany. I'm sorry if that's not more helpful, but with October immediately following, racial standards probably began in that month...it's possible that a civilian doctor would be excited to be on the now legal as well as national bandwagon, especially if they were a voluntary party member prior to these events. I would imagine a professional like a doctor would feel their beliefs were vindicated by the highest courts of opinion, whereas a browshirt might not care too much...(maybe they even liked being revolutionary!) (just a guess anyway IMHO) very nice dagger, beautiful personalization. Mike
