My question is has anyone seen these before are they period .And if so who was authriosed to wear them My guess was it was a tie clasp or something of the sort but i really am at a loss on this one. Oh yes by the way it is about 1 inch in lenth sorry no pics.oh yes it looks like the eagle and rune are done in silver but so small i cant see well.

These are unique and none too common.

I was always under the impression that they are just a unique pin.
They made pins of just about every weapon they had in their ****nal, why not daggers ?

In other words, I don't believe they were military/party issued, no special requirements to own or wear one.
I stand ready to be corrected if someone knows otherwise.

I believe I saw those on a Krupper Militaria ad years back but it could have been another dealer. I almost bought one of each but didn't. They weren't all that expensive though as I remember.

Not a very definitive statement.
Saying that something is "fake" implies that it is a copy of a legit item.

So are you saying these are copies of a legit item or are fantasy, ie never existed in the TR period ?

- they sure look like they could be WHW type pieces [I don't have the WHW series books anymore Mad]. And don't remember them being in any of the Tinnie books..
I had always thought them to be fantasy..

Early 70's company called WW#2 Limited out of St. Louis, MO. had These dagger pins for sale in their mail order catalog. If I find it, I will post pics of the pages. They sold for 3.00 each back then. The catalog was great for the novice collector as a pocket reference, as it contained some original items(bayonets, wartime posters), but was 95% fake and fantasy items-Ray>

I don't know either way, but just because some catalog in the 1970's sold them does not, by itself, mean they are fantasy, as they could have been based on a real item.

I have never seen one in any tinnie reference book or catalog, but if you take the 3 most comprehensive tinnie books out there [and thats probably about all there are], combined, there will still be 100's missing, if not 1,000's.

Like many other things from this place and era, the matter may never be put to rest absent any authoritative documentation or a period pic of one in wear.

All in fun guys -- where does this one fit ? Fake on a card ? I always thought they fit into the endless numbers of tinnies, stickpins and lapel pins. I guess now that I have shown both sides on a card we will see these shortly completely with yellowing. Big Grin

hey matt i live in raliegh i use to be in cary didn't think anyone on here was close to me pleasure to meet you.so now im lost are we real or fake bonn is very close to solign so it is possiable but i agree unless a pic in wear or an offical order is produced i have to lean towars fake i just cant see the ss allowing them on uniform and they for sure would not give them out to anyone giving the importance of the dagger itself to the ss.

The LDO card doesn't mean anything.. A few years ago at a MAX a guy had bunches of them rubber banded for sale.

Tinnies / WHW and the like were pretty well documented in references. These don't appear anywhere. With all the different makers and 3 [?] styles SA SS NSKK, you'd think you'd see something somewhere.
There's a few really sharp guys in Europe with these type pins [one a author of a book on small pins] shame they're not members here...

100% fantasy/fake from the 60's and after. There were tons of these around at that time and they were known and sold as fakes. Hopin' don't make it so.

PS the LDO card says nothing about the
pin or its originality.
