Dear fellow collectors please give me Your opinion on this dagger. Here in Poland we have some rude discussion about it. Some guys says that it is 100% fake. For me and some other people it is 100% legit piece. Tell me if I'm wrong and my experience is so low?!?!

The outside may be tired... the blade is nice! And, we collect for blades, right?

Dagger looks 100% real but the fingerprints on the blade look fake to me.

What do the folks there think are red flags on it, g? Is the maker mark good for the gau? And if so, does gau mark look right? Is makers stamp good, as in not off center? Adler on correctly? Seriously if I was looking at it for me, those are the only big questions I'd have if it's being hauled out as a pure repro,..good luck g, see you back on the rings...

Jerry, I had an Eickhorn with a beautiful permanent finger print. So they can be original.

But, is the finger print period applied or post war applied? Hard to tell from this angle.

No red flags to me. An honest but neglected dagger with a nice blade and a neat looking maker's mark.

I would take it apart, clean the grip with Ren wax, and clean the crossguards, eagle, and scabbard fitting gently with Simichrome or the like. It will look great.

I couldn't see anything to pick apart even trying, nice crossgrain, fittings look up to snuff, nothing wrong with the emblems, grip or scabbard.

I can only presume that some got scared by the extra blackening in the motto, but that is 100% correct on a Hermann Konejung SA.

"He" gau mark is what you need on that maker!

Best regards,

Herman

Overall a desirable early producer..with untouched condition. The only thing I see which raises my eye brows a bit..is the lower step crossguard fit to the grip..which is not as deep as what Hermann shows on his Herm Konejung. Just an observation. Regards Larry
