hi lou
yes this is the real deal original english swords were cut off and made in to candle holders by mr. Bannerman from Bannermann island new york on the hudson river. his father and him had a castle over looking hudson river they sold in the late 1940s 50s original swords/cannons/pistols all militaria from all over europe . matter fact in mid 1960s i bought a plack filled with bayonets with out scabards pinned to a board with span-am war u.s. bayonets dated 1898 . also he sold japanese short swords called wakizashis from early years 1500s -1600s for at that time 10 cents on a dollar this sword candle holder is worth the 130.00 just for the handle n parts good luck and thanks for the memories best andy militarynut
