Hello guys, I've seen this G.B&S mark on an imperial navy dagger. Is it a distributor mark? Is it correct for an imperial navy dirk?

Hello, it is not officially proofed but it is generally assumed, that this is the mark of the uniform retailer "Georg Bartling und Shne" (Georg Bartling and Sons), located at Kiel, who is known for having sold (delivered) imperial naval officer daggers (made by WK&C) with true damast blade. Therefore I think the mark is totally right for such a dagger. Regards,

Wotan, thank you for your reply. It is very informative! Meanwhile I have found a few imperial navy dagger on the internet with the same G.B&S mark.
Jim, the dagger is not in my possession (yet). I will try to get more photos and post them here.

... correct marking, as Wotan said.
We found that marking linked do Georg Bartling und Shne in a period listing recently, so it's more certain now.
Would love to see more of that dagger.
Best; Hermann
