Saw a Heer knot, but with a golden ball and green center. Normal 3 rows silver on a green strap. Any ideas?

Would that be a General's knot?

Are you asking about a NCO Troddel with a flat green cloth strap with silver wire or an Officer Portepee with a green leather strap with silver stripes?

I suspect the ball is tarnished. Some early Heer Portepee have silver plated copper cords and when the silver wears or tarnishes it has a golden hue. Also, some have Rayon or cellulose cords that will turn golden over time. One can see this often with Feuerwehr knots that become wet and then dry over time.
