What a great book! It is everything that such a reference book should be: great pictures, diagrams, pictures in wear, unit numbering, etc, etc.

If any of you are thinking of writing a book, this is the one to use as a template.

Two minor quibbles:

1) It is in French (not a problem for us Canadians, like Spanish wouldn't be a problem for Americans, right wink )
2) As an Eickhorn nut, I do not see a lot of Eickhorn blades in this book.

Les Bayonettes Allemagne (1898-1945), Christian Mery

John, maybe it's time for you to start writing a book about Eickhorn bayonets and daggers? ;-)

Cheers

Gerry

Hey John,

Perhaps a joint addendum with Wayne of etched pieces?

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... Wayne has been after me to do a second ed of his book as well.

I don't think I need that kind of excitement in my life.

If anyone does want to do one, I would be glad to help and to offer up pictures from my meagre collection.

John

Christian's book looks nice. It is always good to support BCNers who write these books for us.

That dose look like a good book,

I think a joint collaboration of a few collectos could bring fourth a very good comprehensive book on the subject. Johnson had other collectors doing chapters in his series. Also there is no such thing as to many on one thing with new up to date info. Look at how may books on lugers and daggers for example.
A good chapter on knots/portepee in color would be great to and help ID some of the odd ones that can look close like the Justice and fireman. Fonts on RFV's seem to have two styles and some were plated and most were Polish. We also have DRP's, HVA's and police style marked KS98's, and grip cyphers.

We all could throw out some ideas an many of you guys have some killer examples to photograph and contribute. Maybe Terry could add the known seen TM with pics. Billy and Terry could add a lot to fireman chapter. We have Geroge, Houston, Andy, Wayne, and many others here that have a ton of info.

Just thought I'd add to the idea,
Steve,

Here is a example with this one, of the three I've seen I have two.
All three are the short style with no TM, of the two I have one is magnetic and the other is not. Also one has a little better quality emblem.
