This was a Manion's post auction purchase. It did not sell in the original auction for the minimum bid of $60 so I was able to pick it up for that in the post auction sale. That was about 1985 or so. It was expensive for an SD Luft, and it was described poorly. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.

1985. If you have a concern about the decal, I can post more pix. In 1985, $60 was high for an SD anything.

Your helmet is good Unutt. It's a 1942 SE (or HKP) production and it's listed as a SD Luftwaffe helmet with zinc plated steel liner with a sheepskin center and the factory code and metric size marking on the left ear guard. The shell has conical vents which is typical for SE produced M40 and M42 shells. The conical vent resembles the M35 vent if it's embossed.
