My bayonet 44 DDL not matching,scabbard camouflaged white.

I absolutely love the color of the grips.

I like both bayonet & scabbard. You have a "4 ddl". The reason for this deviation in the date marking is likely because a new "44" dated code stamp was not ready by 1 January,1944. To solve the problem the "3" was ground off the old "43" dated stamp. Often one can see the impression of a small square next to the side of the "4"(particularly on scabbard). This may be the neutered end of the pedestal from which the earlier "3" was ground away. Thus the first new stamp for 1944 was "4 ddl". This was utilized until late in the no-letter bloc, by which time the second new stamp "44 ddl" was available & used until termination of production in the high c-bloc (possibly into the low d-bloc). This makes the production total for J Corts & Sn in 1944 quite limited, and likely no more than 40,000 units.
