If you wanted just one forestry piece in your collection, you would have to go a long way to beat an E.Pack. I've only had 4 Pack forestry hirschfängers over the years and this one is the best hands down, they have all shown the most exquisite hand finishing, this one though stands out, it's a throw back to the best of the Imperial pieces. I believe this mark to be one of the very earliest of the NS marks, possibly during the time they were producing there SA Rohm daggers, it looks to be the same mark, perhaps somebody with more experience of the marks of this company can confirm that, it's brass based with most of the original gilt still on the fittings, the blade rates Nr Mint, the scabbard leather has only a couple very small surface nicks, this piece though is all about the lower fitting, I have never seen such wonderful hand engraving before, it's factory applied as the gilt is all over it, there is a couple of very small shallow dents in this fitting but it doesn't detract from what is a unique hand engraved mount. It's a long piece at 19" overall, 6 very well applied acorns on the perfectly matching grip plates, a dogs head on the hilt and charging stag on the clamshell both of which is typical for Packs.

A close up of the mark, the end of the hammer is solid black which does not show in the picture.

Gary, Really a deluxe model, beautiful. Love that engraved Hirsch on the lower scabbard fitting. Don't think I've ever seen one like that before. First class from stem to stern! Thanks for letting us have a look at your new addition. Best! B~

That is a beauty, Gary.
I have two of these small Pack TMs on Luft2s. One has what I call the frayed belt and the other a solid belt.
Yours is the frayed belt variety here.

Gary,
I agree. This mark is found on early Lufts and Heers.

Gary,
The only hirschfänger I have in my collection, & it's not even a hirschfänger at all, is a Rifle Association blade. That said, I would love a piece like this because the quality is really there, even to a relatively untrained eye. As Willi says, it's really got it all. & if it impresses you, that counts for a lot. Well done, my friend.

Thanks guys, it's just superb quality, I have so many forestry pieces it's hard for me to add anything nowadays but this one was a "no brainer".

The deluxe PACK forest daggers are between the most beautiful and most hand enhanced forest daggers I know. There were also the plain versions manufactured that don´t come near to these beauties. Unfortunately there is no one in my colletion (up to now). Congrats to your both finds and thank you for sharing these beauties with us. A pleasure to the eye. Regards,
