Interesting! Sorry, I haven't seen that one before, but I would love to see the whole sword.

Interesting. smile It's unknown to me also, and unfortunately when Anthony Carter most unexpectedly suddenly passed away some time back. Besides losing a dedicated friend and aid to collectors, the work on his never published second volume of makers which was going to have updates for his first volume stopped. That said, the blades' s motto is Bavarian. Best Regards, Fred

Most of all, I think it is a private manufacturer.
Well let it be a mystery. smile

I think with the date underneath it is probably a distributor mark, the date I believe is when the retailer probably started in business. I too have seen this mark before but cannot place where I have seen it, I've checked all my files but cannot find it. It's a good looking sword anyway, perhaps the mark will be identified at a later date or maybe never at all.

This identical logo was posted on the BCN forum recently, someone on another forum had pictured an Alcoso KS98 with this other mark. It's well detailed which is unusual for a distributor mark. No one was able to identify it at last glance.

Would that be an Imperial Bavarian blade rehandled for the 3R era?

Thx, Lance

Not necessarily. I have seen this Bavarian motto etched on post WWI sword blades. Most probably a newly made blade with the Bavarian motto added as an extra cost option.

I recently saw the mark on a Polizei bayonet, also marked by Alcoso. I'm still guessing it's a yet unidentified distributor for Alcoso's wares. Nice & well-detailed mark, I like it.
