Howdy fellas,

need opinions on this SS lid. This one is for sale here in Canada for $1,500 USD. Seems a bit low maybe for an original SS lid however the decal has definitely seen better days.

Cheers,

PF

The batch number(31422) corresponds with the data in Brian Ice's Reference book...FYI.

I'm not 100% convinced that the decal on this lid is good... there seems to be a "halo" around the decal and it shows lots of damage compared to the rest of the helmet.

The other thing I don't like is the "light" rust on the decal and on other parts of the lid. From my experience the rust should be a lot darker (after its use on the battlefield and then several decades of storage).

I don't think the chinstrap is good...seems a bit new for a well worn combat helmet.

What do you fellas think?

That is not an original SS decal.

Hi Bob, that's what i thought brother! There's that "halo" around it that is just not right and the damage/wear is waaaay too much compared to the rest of the helmet. Then there's the color of the rust...

Gruss,

Gerry

This helmet is for sale on a site here in Canada.... Pictures are from www.helmetsofwar.com
I've been doing some research on this dealer and he's known to "alter" some of his helmets and then put them up for sale as the real deal. So buyer beware!

Dud,

If you have a negative opinion, please justify it with fact.
