I just saw a kepi with a cloth eagle a couple posts down from this one. I had never seen it, but it seemed to get the thumbs up! Check it out.

I believe it's called something else, like "Lagermutze". It looks like a Kepi, but I think it's made to be folded flat. That particular style kepi has this cloth kind of eagle, and I think it's in silver thread. Dark green would be either gruppe Kurpfalz or Nordsee.

These type of kepis are called Lagermutze and were made of softer and less rigid construction, and for that reason their National Emblems were sewn on.
This is a Hochland one that used to be in my collection.

HI Geoff...I dont have other photos as I sold this last year for £450. These are rare SA items, and a dealer would ask more but that is a good ball park figure.

THE TOP COLOR FROM YOUR IMAGE APPEARS TO BE STAHLGRUN OR STEEL GREEN. COLOR IS TRICKY TO JUDGE JUST FROM A PHOTOGRAPH. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THE CAP WOULD BE FROM GRUPPE KURPFALZ. IF THE CAP WAS MADE DURING THE WAR, IT ALSO COULD BE FROM GRUPPE NORDSEE AS THE KEPI BUTTON COLORS WERE STANDARDIZED ALL TO SILVER AFTER 1940.

If the colors in the photo are true, the green seems too bright to be "Steel Green". Compare the green to my Kurpfalz tunic shown below.

This last example appears to be "Emerald".

Thank all you gentlemen for your replys. The Lagermutze has an RZM tag which has Hersteller and A nr.352311 the color of the green top appears in person more like the emerald green on the collar tab posted by Josias. In my opinion the color is like an American Pool table green.Simple crayola GREEN.Any further comments are welcomed .Thanks Geoff.

I feel confident then, that your kepi is gruppe Sachsen, since the green is that bright. However, check the button closely to make sure it's not gold that has faded, making the kepi Gruppe Nordmark instead. (Of course, you'll never know if the button was changed.) Look at the inside for evidence of perhaps a different button attachment device that was there previously. I believe the button should be pebbled, according to one of the kepi experts. Stunning Cap!!!!
