Nice ring!!!
Probably a mistake, but the Johnson War Booty book describes the SD ring as being made out of Platinum! Does yours have the same hallmark?

a lot of collectors have a hard time with that hallmark. The one used from 1927 to 1958 looks almost exactly to the 1954 to 1958 hallmark! only difference is the early mark the 'box' its in is squared off to the right side. The later it is slightly rounded. They didn't do such a good job with it so they changed again in 58 to a completely different hallmark. Looking at the ring [which I like] I'd of course say its the 27 to 58.. I think now with a little research you could probably find the district mint mark from those letters!
Super set of rings!
