Hi All,
Here are my 2 Weyersberg army daggers with variant crossguards, would like to hear some opinions on them both. The earlier example came complete with the hangers and a beautiful portepee, far better quality than other portepees I've handled (not many).
Cheers

Hi Rhidian, thank you for showing your beautiful Weyersberg daggers! IMO both are absolutely correct specimen. The first is an earlier type dagger with slant grip and 1st Weyersberg crossguard. Totally textbook. And even the "M" letter on the crossguard is a typical Weyersberg engraving. The other one is with normal grip and 2nd Weyersberg crossguard - very nice also. Unfortunately the photos are so small sized. I posted a topic about the chronology of the Weyersberg Heer daggers on the forum a few years ago, probably it will be interesting for you. http://phpstack-500133-1583587.cloudwaysapps.com/ubbthread...true#Post234002Best regards, Janos

Hi Janos,
Many thanks for the detailed response and sorry for the poor photos, I really struggle to take tidy pics of daggers.
Just read your thread, great info thanks and I thought the engraving was done later, didn't realise it was done by weyersberg in house.
My earlier example is numbered 395 but only on the grip.
Cheers

Janos Here is a somewhat better pic of the engraving on the crossguard in the above pic (first dagger). Ron

Beautiful daggers you guys show here. Weyersberg is certainly one of my favourite makers of heer daggers. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers for the good comments
Thanks again Janos for the link and I see the similarities in the etchings so it makes sense they were done in house
Regards

Real beauties Rhidian! Very nice patina and beauty grips on both! The Weyersberg jeweler engraving is a cool mystery with this maker..was it done at the factory or was there a large uniform distributer that sourced thier daggers from Weyersberg?? Interesting for sure. Congrats on these! Kevin.
It's ALL in the DETAILS!!.......
