Rob, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your latest acquisition. Which is a relatively scarce (and attractive) Saxon Artillery Faschinenmesser. Best Regards, Fred

Rob, I'm not sure about an on-line guide - but I believe that "28.A.E.1.42" should roughly translate to the Number 28 Field Artillery Regiment Ersatz (substitute) Batterie number 1, weapon number 42" which was also known as the Knigliche (Royal) Saxon Number 2 Field Artillery Regiment. Best Regards, Fred
