From ww1, very curious variant of this combat knife, nice Polish eagle.

In my opinion no. But I'm not expert. Rather could be used by polish soldier just after ww1 nonregulation. In the first years of independce after ww1 polish troops used left bayonets, swords etc. In my opinion it is possible to make etch on austro Hungarian regulation knife in new polish army. I saw Navy dagger from Reichsmarine with polish eagle attached to the pommel. The owner told that it belongs to the new polish navy captain just after wwI. I frankly say it is just a theory. Best Ted

I dont like this "etching", its too "flat". It looks like fake etchings, you can see often at blades of dress-bayonets.
The rusty scabbard was painted over with black colour like I often see at flee-markets ...
In my eyes this is not an "era-piece".
Cheers,
R.

Hi, Ted ! This is only my opinion and I wrote it in this thread generally. That was not a response at your statement. Rgds. R.

It can be also some kind of personalisation. Perhaps in a spare time some skilled soldier wanted his knife to look special. It doesn't look professional, but still nice piece of history. Strange thing is the polish eagle should look to the opposite side
