Hey guys
I need help with this bayonet.
The grip eagle is pinned and moving.
The blade is the same size as long dress bayonet.
I made pictures of the bayonet from Pack catalog and you can see little differences on fittings.
So guys,whats is your opinion?

Regards
stingray

Nice. Appears to be one of the factory issue police service bayonets produced before the order to remove the clamshell from production.

I'm not liking that very crude clamshell for a pack product. I also noticed the rivets don't seem seated flush to the grip plates from the front. The reverse rivets look recently flattened and smoothed off IMO. I know I did see some recent throw togethers at the last SOS.

Overall I like this bayonet. It has the look of an early 3R produced item with aluminum hilt, wide-winged grip eagle & non-oversized rivets. The fit & finish of the grip plates looks to me to be what I'd expect of a bayonet produced in this time frame. Joe has mentioned in the past that clamshells were produced, albeit sparingly, well into the 3R.

The thing that concerned me initially was the length of the blade which I believe is 25 cm. From memory, I remember there being standard Polizei bayonet blades of varying lengths but not the usual size for a long model KS98. The reason I mention this is, like Ed, I've seen some more recent put together Polizei blades that utilized the typical KS98 blades with either a standard black steel scabbard or (in 1 case) a leather scabbard that had been cut down to accommodate the shorter blade. However Ivan's Pack catalogue seems to show that they produced a 25 cm blade for the Polizei.

I should note the bottom fitting on the scabbard is straight across like that on the S71/84 scabbard. Is the top fitting straight or scalloped and is the scabbard marked in any way?

Thanks guys

I made some shots of the scabbard and is not marked.
Yes the fittings are different than in catalog piece, also this one has no screw in upper fittings.
The one in the catalog looks to be slotted and this one is not.

Ivan,

Thanks for the better pics. It's funny how my initial concern about the blade length turned into nothing & the scabbard which at first glance, looks OK enough, turns out to be a question mark. I've never seen fittings like that on a standard Polizei bayonet. The only two types are the typical scalloped type as shown in the Pack catalogue & the non-scalloped type made by WKC & seen on both WKC & Henckels bayonets.
