Here is one of my recent finds, a quite early type 2 Klaas. Tapered tang with the hole in it for plating, brass based pommel, but a light weight guard! Klaas was transitioning here from the initial type 1 configuration. The scabbard is the type seen often with these early Klaas's, along with the usual asterisks it features a broad tip that stands out from others! Let me know what you think, invite all comments and pictures of your Klaas examples.. Kevin.

What a nice find Kevin, what a nice find! I really love it. This crossguard is awesome, and the condition is fantastic. Congratulation! I am not a bit jealous, oh no. I'm EXTREMELY jealous. Janos

Beautiful example Kevin ! Its easy to see why Klaas heers are coveted by army specialists. I like the plated blade with this guard I might stand corrected but the earliest Klass army daggers with the type-1 guard seem to always have a non plated blade.

WOW Paul, talk about two RARE Klaas daggers!! That type one you show first has some killer hand work and the rarely seen "pebbled" wreath around the swaz!! The second you show is a first for me, a Klaas with the EARLY type two generic guard and matching pommel as used by initial super early Plumacher, Axt und Hauer and have seen one on a initial Voos...now Klaas..WOW...THANKS for pulling out these, and boy would I like a shot at your type one with that pebbled wreath! I will show my type 1 Klaas soon, Kevin.
