I recognize the photo and the caption. There was a two page thread on the sword and I can not find it now either.

Dave should be able to tell us what happened. I understand there is a trail whenever a thread is deleted or modified.

Could be a case of the disappearing posts. Hopefully Dave will comment. I'm not a sword collector so my knowledge is extremely limited. I think blade is not an old one. Probably made by a smith early- mid WW2 period based on military stamps on tang etc. That said I also wonder if blade encising was added during occupation of Japan for returning GI. I think this because I can not recall seeing a WW2 blade with this type decoration. Older blades, yes.

The original thread ended with what I interpreted as offer(s) to sell by a non Premium Member.
What I usually do in that case is pull the thread and send an email to the person(s). I often make a post saying "thread gone" or something similar, but forgot this time. Sorry 'bout that.
Dave

The sword is WWII Jareth and Horimono is WWII dun So maby you should educate your self before you make comments like that "xxx xxxx". Many people sent pictures with swords made buy this WW2 sword maker with same horimono and I do remember asking someone if there item was for sale like I have read many people ask in many post on this forum because it was the same as mine so why cancel my post and not theres? Is it becase my item is not German. Its not funny to me you would cancel post. Dave send me an email at cederman10638202@aol.com because IM feeling punked you did that. I have put up many post of interest on this forum and all have been read buy many and people commented and liked what I put up. "I want to talk to you about this Dave"

daggerguy, Ed is asking why the rude response to Jareth. We understand you are angry with Dave, but why attack the moderator who is giving his opinion.
And if you read what he says, he says the blade is pre WWII. Plus, as normal, he asked some pertinent questions.
We are all in this together.

this forum should be glad Nick is a member because most info on this forum was very weak at best and most info was way of or incorrect. I am into sa and ss and nskk german daggers and will stick to only posting about those items because the responses on this forum when it comes to japanese ww2 items is weak at best. I expected to learn more about this sword and in the end i knew more than most people. sword is ww2 made thats why there is a showa stamp. The blade was made buy Kanemune who was known for his dragon horimonos witch were carved on blades to keep away bad spirets and bring good luck to fighting officers. Thanks Nick

Yes do us all a favor with your rude & ungratefull comments & please cease posting on this board. You got some excellent info from Nick. NO ONE SAID YOUR SWORD WAS'NT WW2 MADE! I've had it with your attitude. Do you own research elsewhere. Here's a suggestion http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/viewforum.php?f=4
