The certificate is a deed of foundation concerning a ring for the members of the Hoch- und Deutschmeister Division (44. ID), dated November 1944 at hungaria. The signation should obviously be the one of Generalleutnant Hans Günther von Rost, the Division commander at that time. In the certificate there are mentioned the certain qualifications for getting the right to wear this ring. Generally (it is mentioned) this ring should only be dedicated to officers. There was also the possibility to withdraw the ring. I cannot tell you anything about the originallity of the cert nor the ring but the emblem immediately reminds me on the "Stalingrad-cross" but is NOT the very same. But this "other" cross does appear (without swaz???) when the 44.ID was reestablished in june 43. No exact date of foundation (the day is missing) is mentioned in the certificate. Imho some experts on signatures should at least proof if the signature could be a real one from the commander. Personally I do not like the stippling behind the cross and it looks like roughly cast but on the other side it was late in the war.... and I am no expert on rings and there is only this one blurry pic. The center eagle I think is the vienniese eagle (the original, imperial seat of the Division) which is without swaz and as said also appears without swaz in the 1943 reestablishing advertisment. But additional Research should habe to be done. At least there is an honor ring mentioned at several occasions concerning the comradeship assotiaton of teh 44ID. Regards,

E.,old buddy,,much thanks for the interesting scans.. The ring shown is 100% postwar,,maybe meant for service time in the unit. [?] The documents,,lets hope one of our German speaking members can translate. Maybe the documents are authentic but the ring never made. [?] I will say over the years I have seen expertly produced counterfeit ring award documents. For the HR, for the 'Police Honor Ring' , for the Victory ring, and others.. These counterfeits produced on period paper, period typewriter and even period ink stamps,,actually very easy to do...Making the ring for the bogus documents is usually the hard part!

Sorry friends - in the moment my time is real to short for this translation. Maybe later. This Pozun-Pallas books are usually 70ies. In my opinion this ring too. As i know frist of this row of books were writen on order of the reunion of the old camarads of this units. Most the story of the unit with some pics. Sometimes a second book of the unit nearly only with pics. I know this because my grandfather (member of the 260. ID) helped in working on the 2 books about this unit.
