Here is my new HOELLER forest (lower grade) dagger. There are much more fakes of this firm around than (rare) originals. This one is totally textbook (Houston Coates´ guide - textbook). It is shown in the contemporara HOELLER catalogue "Nr 33 fein ziselierter Hirschfänger". Hope you enjoy (my bad pics...), regards,

Yes, I'm sure you were surprised what was under the portepee cord,!!!!!! any Höller is a rarity in itself but that one with all of the accoutrements as well is just superb, without doubt Höller made the best looking forestry hirschfängers during this period, that's if you can find them that is, for most people the catalouge is as close as they get to seeing one of these. A wonderful piece and classic Höller all the way, the etch as far as I know was unique to them as well. Another great item is the hanger that attaches to the frog, somewhere I have some period documentation stating these types were for hirschfängers, great to see one appear on this original set up.
Couldn't ask for better than that.
Gary

Gary, I have to admit that I did know very well what is hidden under the portepee cord but wanted to build up some friction to make the thread a little more livid. The full text in the HOELLER catalogue also states "Nr.33 fine ciselled hunting dagger WITH NATIONAL EMBLEM". And yes, it is always a pleasure to get a full rig. Specially also to be mentioned is, that the mm is stamped in the FRONT of the blade (no need to say, for those who do not believe, that the blade was not turned after war ). Also that the blade etching is very shallow compared to such of competitors. Regards,
