Is it common for a SS officer dagger to be without maker markings ?

There is no "SS officer dagger". There are the modells ´33 ("normal" SS dagger, worn by all SS men) and the later ´36 chained model which was worn by enlisted men, NCOs and officers only due to certain regulations.
I think you do mean the ´36 chained model and yes, these are without maker markings when originally produced per se. When a man who became authorized to wear the ´36 model and decided to continue to wear his earlier maker marked ´33 model and did buy just a chained scabbard or did grade up his ´33 model scabbard just with a chain the now "´36" model is with maker mark.
Originally produced ´33 models are very seldom without maker mark, mostly the mark was erased, eg. totally ground Röhm.
