Hello folks, Here is the first if the three daggers I picked up while at the Max Show this year.
This dagger exhibits very unique Brass based fittings and scabbard, to include the only ferrel I know of that is attributed to one maker and era of production (crossguard type)! This ferrel is very deep in its relief and when looked at disassembled from the dagger shows a very thick band of material used in its construction. Very interesting, the variations never seem to end!
I have been looking for a nice example like this of an initial production HEER by Holler for quite a few years! I am indeed very happy with the example I present here, please comment if you will and feel free to show examples you may have of this Holler type. Kevin.

What a pleasure spending some time with you at the Max show and seeing the wonderful army daggers you managed to pick up. This initial production Holler is a real beauty and very very difficult to find as you know. I know this dagger was on your target list for the show and quite amazing you managed to find one. I certainly learned something in that the Holler ferrule (early only ?) is unique and attributable to them. On several occasions I thought it was funny as we stood at dealers tables inspecting army daggers and discussing manufactures variations and seeing some of the funny looks we received.

OK, here is a pic (sorry for quality of lack of) of the "Holler initial" ferrel next to a typical Heer ferrel.. neat, and I believe, a BRASS based unique ferrel to these Hollers! Kevin.

This was another great conditioned early dagger that I got to see and hold, it is as impressive as it looks in the pictures, truly a beautiful piece.

Thanks for posting your beauties Tom!! Real knockouts that I have yet to look at in hand. Great to observe the consistancies like the hilt fittings and the deep relief ferrel I spoke of, and the variations like the slight differences in the leaves of the scabbard bands...Kevin.
