How can you tell if a VZ 24 bayonet was truly modified by the Germans during WWII by having the muzzle ring ground off if there are no German proofs on the bayonet? The only German proofs are on the scabbard with a "dot42" on one side of the throat and a Eagle/63 waffenamt on the frog stud. But the bayonet only has Czech proofs an "E Rampant Lion 36" on the hilt and a "CSZ A" on one side of the ricasso.

The pictures are too detailed and will not post. But to go further into your comments AndyB is it possible that when the Germans modified the bayonet by removing the muzzle ring in 1942 that they reproofed or replaced the scabbard with "dot42" and an Eagle/63 waffenamt.

As the dot42 production is not serialed with scabbards is a possibility but i assume Your piece was put together by bringback or later, the czechoslovak accepted piece should have a late 30ies accepted scabbard. best regards,Andy
