Hello Gents, New to the forum. I recently received a Fire Dress bayonet and have some questions about the frog that came with it. It appears to me that the fit of the scabbard into the frog seems a little sloppy. It has considerable play from left to right as well as up and down. My question is whether this frog and bayonet are a match? The frog is marked for Otto Stephan 1937 on the reverse of frog. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Detlef

Detlef,
Your suspicions are correct. Your frog is for the larger S84/98 style bayonet. The knot is proper but the correct frog would be the smaller frog made for the KS98 and the FW bayonet. This is the so-called "Dress" frog made without the large washered rivets shown on your frog.
I hope this is helpful.
