Hi Bill, from the pics supplied the cap appears to be a reproduction. The button might be period. Regards, Ryan

Hi Bill I have emailed you several times both here and on your personal email to ask for follow up on your cap. You sent me at least a dozen emails when you wanted information but now you have "disappeared"??

Hi Bill, you are actually incorrect. I said that I couldn't offer you a valid opinion based upon the initial poor quality photos that you sent me. I said that there were some things that I liked and some that I did not but I was not an "authority" on SS VT overseas caps. They are outside of my collecting sphere. I said that there were others better suited to offer comment and opinion on this forum. With your permission I forwarded the better quality pictures that you sent me to Martin Stiles of "Hannah's Reich" in the UK. Martin is an experienced dealer and collector of SS headgear and uniforms etc. Martin immediately said that the cap was a reproduction and I forwarded you his response, not mine. I did not like the over all look of the material of the cap nor the tag or stamping. You contacted me unsolicited on my personal email eager for an opinion, which is cool and I freely offer it but don't shoot the messenger my friend because you do not like the "news" all is good cheers and safe collecting. The Beaver reference book on SS headgear or the Hayes book on SS collecting are good investments...

Hi Bill....I do not know what the issue is? Kelly Hicks is very respected in the collecting community. His word is accepted as gospel on SS helmets. I would assume that he knows something about SS headgear as well. I will not comment on Craig Gottlieb as I have had some very bad transactions with him in the not too distant past. Prior to those "issues" I had an excellent relationship with Craig and sold to him often. Unfortunately for me his reputation, as it pertains to me only has been tarnished. This is a personal matter and not worthy of discussion on this forum. I respect him enough still not to do that here. Once more I said when you solicited my opinion that from the poor quality pictures supplied I was unable to offer a clear opinion. I offered to send your better images to someone, Martin Stiles who is fairly well respected in the cloth SS and headgear community. He has pronounced it as being "fake" I merely delivered his reply to you from your pictures. I did say that there were some things that I liked about the cap and some things that I did not. I prefaced by saying that these early SS-VT caps are NOT within my collecting realm or area of expertise. Regards, Ryan
