Enclosed are pictures of a hard to find pattern Saxon sword. Actually this is only the second Saxon sword Ive ever had; note the large King Albert cypher. Interesting the gold inlay distributor stamp on the blade. I dont think I have noticed this before.

Hi Dow,
A nice Saxon Infantry Officer Degen (IOD). These do seem hard to find but Saxony was behind the Wall after the war. More seem to be finding their way West nowadays. The King Albert cypher is normal in this location as is the distributor marking found in the fullers. Actually, the cypher is more often there than the distributor. Is this one a WK&C and does it have one or two rings on the scabbard?

No maker mark and one ring on the scabbard, so I'm thinking 1900-1914 time frame.

No maker mark and one ring on the scabbard, so I'm thinking 1900-1914 time frame. I am not certain when the Saxons removed the second ring from the scabbard but this sword is still shown with two rings on the scabbard in the 1905 WKC catalog. I would say roughly 1910-1918 time period.

Nice sword, Dow. The example I have only has plastic grips, but the same Albert cypher. There is a Clemen & Jung maker's mark on the reverse, and the blade is 'Eisenhauer Garantirt.'
