Hello Gerome,
Some (big name)dealers sell these knifes as authentic pieces, but they always have been extremely controversial. Just search the forum and you will find several topics about these knifes.
Personaly, I am an absolute non believer: the way these knifes are constructed, the quality of the materials used (mainly the blade itself), the etching, the missing maker mark... etc, all indicate that they cannot be of early Solingen production. There also exist not any historical proof that they existed during the period.
Some years ago, at a fair in Germany, I came accros a dealer, who had over 10 for sale, all the blades had some recent corrosion spots: "a recent discovery of a full case", was his story... That was the ultimate confirmation for my suspicion!
Best regards,
Herman
