I cut, cleared up and,,,,, A nice clear shot,,of nothing. A ring but nothing on it Dam,,hate posting here... Remember IF you have a [big] shot and the ring is clear and recognizable,,please send to my email we still have to for me to add it to the project. So all that looking and nothing. Many photos of soldiers wearing rings,,but nothing to be seen clearly/ big enough..

Yes, many many photos show the men wearing rings. Doesn't matter what branch I've seen them on all! IF we could just get a better view

Almost hate to make posts on this topic! . Really though when you look you'll see many photos someone in the photo will be wearing a ring.. It's finding the clear shot where the ring is identifiable is VERY hard to find!!
This looks very promising,,,,,,,

- Yes!! saw Snipers photo.. That IS a DAK ring. Can't see exactly. Snipers photo on the page before really shows it best.. Here's 2 more.. Think the photo has been sold but you can always check with him... Great shot,,probably should have gotten it,,another near miss for me! So combine photo on previous page here and these 2 and is's safe to say its a DAK ring..

for those searching photos you must be very careful. What is advertised isn't always what you get...
This guy advertised wearing a skull ring.. anyone see one?? I asked the seller for a better/clearer shot. I moved it around, photo shopped it,,but nothing really to see..

- - this one I thought stood a chance.. Some you just can't enlarge unless you have the photo in hand.. I did not take a chance on it. Might have been interesting in hand!
A photo guy told me those items at the edges of the photo sometimes depending on how photographed will not be in focus.. Usually for me,,if the ring isn't recognizable without editing in the photo etc. your not going to get a clear image.. Careful with photos guys!

About being carefully with photos..,Once I ordered on Ebay a vintage inkpot with a nice label.... Having the inkpot in hands, it had a lot more! inkspots on the label !!....they had edited it ; digital removed some inkspots on the ebay-picture :) . Ofcourse, this here is a very obvious example of editing photos . Receiving an edited photo it is a greater problem!

Benten, you are so right! More and more photos are being played with. This example is very old :
Man standing is the Authentic ,unedited/played with photo.
Woman hanging is the FAKE!

another old set of played with photos...
My friend from Poland said to be very careful as the newer programs from the last 5 years. The more clear a weird or ring thought to be fantasy is the more likely it is photoshopped or 'morphed'.. To add a ring,,brooch, ribbon bar, award, etc. is very easily done now.
- soldiers with just the geese is the original,,,hanging is the altered..
Paratrooper is a complete fantasy. A modern photo in a old frame...

this is a a photo I recently missed. 2 min. left to auction,,the photo was inexpensive, no one watching it,,, and I thought I'd win it for sure,, well I didn't dam it! So we have a Luft officer. To me it looks like he's wearing a 'Norge' type ring! Bet a little editing and it would have come up rather good.. Or,, maybe I'm seeing what I want to

Yes that last one right above I agree with S33.. That is one of the Norge rings.. A bit clearer and could be useful,,,maybe some of the newer equipment [?].. Yeah a topic everyone hates to post in.. I still have a small stack of photos I have to try but really don't have hope in.. My buddy got a new scanner/printer so I retried a photo from this topic. Luft officer and wife... Here it is again,,,,and again,,a near miss,,,nothing to recognize here..

last one for today... Nice little family..
Thought maybe that ring could be something recognizable,,,but no....
In wear photos are hard to find.. Photos back then focused differently.... I'll sometimes sit an hour,, hour and half going thru photo after photo after photo... Every once in a while a winner.. But they are few and far between....... this,,another near miss..

No digital photography back then. High definition resolution is probably impossible, regardless of your technology. I imagine the best bet is if there's an original close-up pic from the war.

Gaspare, this nice family picture is probably taken at the photographer’s studio with a nice bench and neutral background. I also have made this picture darker, lighter and tried some more settings ; even upsite down can sometimes give a better vieuw For me, the soldier’s ring and the wife’s necklace are not clear enough for determination . It is a well composed photo . Stephen, I agree, the pictures then have to be taken sharp, with those camera’s . I remember in the sixties, it was always a gamble when I got back my pictures from the photographer, were they sharp or not?! Even when some were blurry I still had to pay for them all

A picture that fits in this topic. Not clear, but may be it is a high spiral- Westwall ring ?
This picture shows a soldier in a bunker; a fragment of a Westwall documentary; title free translated: "From NS-stronghold to green strip-nature."
Also nice to see are the daily items as the long toothbrush and quality shaving brush.

Nice shot Benten,,,, Yeah that looks like a high spiral type WW.
Benten,,on your scanner. Preview the shot. Then crop down to just the hand. Then put setting on 1200dpi... Some only go to 600dpi,,but worth the chance.. The go to edit program and enlarge to 200% , 300% etc...and see if you get anything.... I played around with your photo a bit :
