Just want to apologize for any conflict between you and Doug. That was not my intention. I was not intentionally trying to inflame other members. Or goad anyone into an argument. I read your post and didn't see any reason why members would reply RIP. If you read what you posted, He was DIRECTLEY RESPONSIBLE for the WW2 atrocities but of course denied it! It was not my intention for this to come to this level, I just didn't agree! I'm sorry that I Posted on your forum and will think twice about doing so in the future. JMO!! P.S Thanks Paul (pvon) and Gaspare for your open minds..

Its ok to have a opinion! This forum needs a stir of the pot once in awhile!

We were talking history and we all read into things different!

Thats ok!

Everythings good on my end!

Best to all!

Doug,,
,,weird thing about computers,,they don't really get the true nature across.
My comment was in no way meant to be bait. If you took it that way I apologize.

But if there wasn't 2 opposing POVs there wouldn't be a discussion! wink
I do truly believe there are some Nazi heros [ v.Stauffenberg and the like] .Some believe differently. I think most of us know each other enough that the discussion would have went on fine. whistle..

*See guys,,,,this is what happens when the hobby gets slow and we run out of money to get cool ******** to show from our collections!!!! wink grin cool

Reds12, I see no reason to apologize. You are new here and I should have handled you inquiry with more tact.

fortunately, Gaspare explained the way forums work.

We do not allow political discussions here because they always go bad. The same with some emotional statements.

So, please feal free to post on any forum, but hopefully it has to do with collecting.

It appears that even a historic notice gets a lot of people, not just you, broiled up.

I am sorry to all for my post to begin with. I just felt it was a historic end to the last person to be in contact with AH.

Paul,

You and I have been at this for more than a dozen years and you know I like a knock down drag out discussion. But you also know they end badly.

I have no problem with your posting because there are obvious deep feelings about this with everyone. You caught me off guard because I thought you would recognize I was trying to quiet the thread, and as a former administrator and moderator, I thought you would either help, or back out.

Obviously your post was acceptable because I left it alone. My comment was to continue to try and quiet the discussion. By the next morning I knew it would not work and I shut it down. So, you really had nothing to do with it and I agree we need a knock down drag out every once in a while.

So here is the problem with that. I have had too many of my threads closed. Admin was correct to close them. They were all getting political. this is professionally embarrassing to me. So, I now watch my threads like a hawk and I will shut them down if they get political without hesitation.

On the other hand, I truly believe it is time for a discussion that many of the members want to have. I just don't want to be the one to shut it down. So I suggested you guys start it on your own and see if it can be an adult discussion.

Red12. As you can see, a political discussion (not your comment) has closed down two threads and now has this, a positive thread. To Gaspare's point, let us get back to collecting.

Gaspare you and me have no problems, you are a bro and you'd have to say something bad about my momma to make me see red.
I just made an observation, and if you weren't a mod maybe you'd see it more my way. When a mod at a NS collecting site says "Ok, who wants to start a Nazi hero worship thread, be my guest?", I can pretty much see the writing on the wall. Views on this were being aired well in the original thread, things were being thrashed out in the subsequent thread, but someones got a itchy thread lock finger and wants to always give himself the last word, I have no doubt thats the way any prospective thread I started would have went, thats the way this one will go.
You want to lock a thread down fine that is your option Jim - But to go off on a multi paragraph monologue personally against me then say "Thats it, discussion over" instead of simply locking it down with a more standard "Thread Closed" is a bit insulting and frankly, juvenile IMO. That is no way to treat another man, I can tell you pure and simple you would not end a face to face debate with me that way, why try to do it here?

Nothing much to be said about it, as has been stated and is well known, forums are not democracies, they are owned and dominated by individuals, and those individuals will always control the flow of words, just a matter of how thick skins are, and how far they are willing to let things go.

Just can't let it go, eh skynard.

First, if I had a face to face debate with you it would end when I wanted it to, unless you are threatening me with violence?

second, I was not having a debate, I was dealing with a member acting in a immature manner. That is the way I dealt with you. Because that is the way you keep acting.

So, do yourself a favor, and stop. My next step is to simply edit every post you make with mention of me or the post.

Sky,

Jim is giving you good advice and I agree with his last sentence above. You need to move on.

Back to collecting?
