Hard to believe. It is a very nice conditioned dagger based on the pictures, but I think that one or two people have gotten emotionally involved here and have run up the price.

I could see a large premium based on the quality... but this price is silly, I think.

It seems that yes, it is for real.
I think that John has hit the nail on the head and that a couple or perhaps more have a bad case of auction fever. I think the dagger is in nice condition and is either polished up or in factory new condition.
I think Craig knows the difference!

I would have had a stab at this were it not for two things.
Number one I agree with Kevin and do not like that pommel on an SMF.
Secondly, the price went well above any realistic valuation on day 2.

Great news for the consignor who is the real winner here. smile

Oh my – I say some do-gooder couldn’t resist cleaning this up a bit. As already said don’t think that’s a SMF pommel and if you want to see one closer to a factory finish look at this example with a large portion of the factory black burnishing still present and 100 % of the gold – Heck I would let this beauty go for $1895…. shipped to your door !
I’m looking at something in the auction but not this! VB your right the consigner is the winner here.

Fantastic example you have the finest edge weapons collection in the world IMO. Be hard to put a price on this but it would be high if it was mine!! Where would you find another?

Both lovely daggers and Wotan with original box is incredible!

I really cannot understand the mentality of people who rush to make first bids on something they will most probably not end up with? I wait to see where it is going before I get involved.

Anyone else notice the mysterious case of the disappearing luft visor? Not sure whats going on there?

Yes, Wotan's Luft is awesome!

Landser, I am the opposite of you... I like to bid early and put in my maximum bid. I usually will not increase this maximum as the end of bidding draws near. The last minute sniping type of bidding drives me crazy. If I don't get the item for my bid price, then I am ok.. I am no worse off than I was going into the bidding process.
