Never have seen such dagger before. Looks like a high Quality item. The blade does remind me more of a bayonet than of a dagger. Do you have pics of a comparable russian edged weapon? Regards.

Most unusual & a wonderful looking piece!

Thanks, Gentlemen, for jumping in. Yes, the blade is indeed a high Quality item, please look at the Damascus pattern and the fine grain of the ivory grip. Collectors should notice the shape of the blade, typical for early Russian Naval daggers. But this dagger is a mixture between Imperial German and Russian daggers. This dagger belongs to my friend Peter Tamm, the founder of the International Maritime Museum in Hamburg/Germany http://www.internationales-maritimes-museum.deHe supported us with our book back in 2009. He's a true Gentleman and collector by heart. Best; Hermann

Hermann No doubt about it Russian Navy blade. But why go through such an expense to have it custom mounted? And with German fittings? Family heirloom? Russian immigrant with family history of naval service? Definitely the classic deluxe WKC fittings. Portepee may not be original to the piece or was untied at one time. Just when I thought I had seen most variations. Thanks for showing. I need to ponder this one some more. Rick

A beautiful and very interesting piece! I would love to see more pictures of this dagger. Especially of the scabbard and blade.
