I wouldn't chance sending it directly to Germany, but I've heard the authorities there turn their backs on NAZI items and look the other way. But, customs could be a different matter. The neo-NAZIs cause trouble now and then and I guess the government can get aggravated by such. I would think carrying the dagger into Germany from a nearby European country would be the way to go, especially in an automobile, as opposed to public transportation.

Roy, Customs indeed will seize Nazi items. I had it happen to me. A deep orange gripped navy dagger pictured in TW's book was packed along with a number of Imperial items going to a prominent dealer (may have been a tip off). The entire shipment was seized. A complete loss of everything. I have been told it is a crap shoot. Like any other organization you cant inspect everything. I have been told that it should be listed as old knife or something sufficiently vague. Don't know if this works as I have not tried again. Best of luck Rick

Received an etched Army with ivory grip n a late 2nd Luft from England .They were marked 'kitchen knife's" little or no value.I still don't like sending to EU as it takes to long and your sitting on pins waiting

Gary, That is kind of you to help out a fellow collector. Please educate me. Why does a parcel arriving in Germany from the UK not go through the same customs process as one from the US? I could understand if it was EU etc but that doesn't apply. Useful information for the future as I have friends in the UK and could have avoided the problem of confiscation I mentioned in my earlier post. Thanks for your assistance. Cheers, Rick

Hi Rick
Within the EU there are no security checks on the parcels, if you try to send a parcel from outside the EU into Germany they will confiscate the item if it has a swastika on it.The swastika is not a banned symbol in the UK where it is in Germany and some other EU countries.
