Hi Guys! I have a question I wanted to run by all of you. I have a customer who is a retired ranger, was part of "Black Hawk Down" and in Iraq. I have given him a couple of things since he is disabled and really does not have the money to collect. He is a silver star winner and a super nice guy. I would love to make our own "Wounded Warrior" Fund and send him to a big show. He could stay with me and I would cover his food. What would you guys think about making a small contribution to pay for his flight and whatever extra we can give him to spend on a memory from the show. Would you guys be interested in contributing? Thanks! Bob

Hi Everyone! I think he was confused and shocked when I told him I did this here and the WAF. Dave, he lives in California and I would like to get him to Syracuse, spend a couple of days here and then take him to the SOS. Ryan and Andy, thanks! I think the attention may be tough for him but I think he will be OK with it and I am happy to introduce him to all. I love this story, here is how he won the Silver Star! Thanks again guys! Bob
The Silver Star was awarded to me for a firefight we were in in Mosul. It was during the "surge" and we had moved into the town before the main force with Delta, and some British Para's. The intelligence was of course all wrong and when we jumped into that town the whole place lit up. We ended up in a 36 hour firefight..straight..no let up. Myself and a British Sniper were on overwatch on the main street and there was a Ranger Team pinned down on the left side of the street and they were taking direct fire from the right. Well, we were basically keeping them alive. The fire was intense!! Obviously, it wasn't long before the bad guys learned where we were, so they came for us. We had limited ammo left at that point and were waiting for a drop any minute. Well, we fortified our position, set up some claymores on the stairwell leading to the roof where we were....but...after killing a lot of them and running out of ammo it turned to hand to hand combat. During that time, the british para that was with me was stabbed 2 times in the belly. Our ammo drop came (lucky for us) with an apache gun ship. I put me and him behind a 5 gallon drum that was on the roof with us and told them to light the roof up on my position before the ammo drop. It was HELL let me tell you but those Apache pilots saved our lives. They were able to direct their fire so efficiently that nothing hit us. Long story short I had him medevac'd .....got a fresh ammo drop....stayed in the fight providing overwatch for my fellow rangers for 2 more days and then hopped a Blackhawk out of there and didn't even know I had been scalped by a bullet. So I have a nice scar. Yup that's it.

Maybe he could get some pictures in military uniform and sign them for sale at the MAX - given his record I bet he could pick up some substantial dollars.
