When I think of WW1 German, what comes to mind is the Spike helmet,Iron Cross, or German helmet! Maybe we can get collectors to show their Picklehaubes! Even people that don't collect can pick out those iconic images! I know that Spike Helmet on Hogans Heroes got my attention! I will start and add more later! What are your thoughts on objects mentioned or not mentioned! PVON

George, Now that's an exceptional beauty having a fantastic monogram. I wasn't aware they used the same motto as the Bavarians..? Stunning leather finish on that example, too. Thanks gents! Bill

Collectors
Have any of you watched the Guns of August?
It really shows the plumes, spikes and pomp of the royals and the uniforms they wore!
They would wear rival uniforms and was like a costume party!
But they were all related and its a tragic story!
Pop the DVD or vhs in and sit back and watch!
Thanks to all that post or comment!
Always like to hear your thoughts or see your items of history!
Gotta see more Iron crosses!

Bill Thanks Bill. It does seem odd that the Berlin Police would use what we think of as the Bavarian motto but they did. They wore the helmet plate without the motto before 1898 and added it from 1898 until 1918.
