I collect photos of them in wear as I journey through the SS microfilm records in the National Archives. SS daggers being worn in formal portraits are not as common as you might think. They can also be particularly difficult to see on the microfilm in light of the German photographers' penchant to pose Allgemeine-SS men against a dark background. And it is hard to find them not grasping the handle.

Enjoy!

Paul,

That pic is 6-8 years old at least. Digital cameras are a lot better today as are the re-sizing programs. But, you probably get the idea laugh

PS I really do appreciate the effort you have taken to post pictures of various items Many thanks

I had been looking for a numbered M36 that I could research and picked this one up at last year’s SOS. It was brought in by a picker years ago to a show in the Midwest. The dagger has an unmarked blade, all nickel fittings, Type II nickel chain and painted scabbard. It is numbered 111 920 on the underside of the lower cross guard, blade, and scabbard throat. Doesn’t look like it has ever been cleaned or taken apart. Have to admit that I’d really like it even if it was not numbered.

Enjoy!

I particularly like how the paint on the back of the scabbard is worn from rubbing on his coat.

Adolf Hellinger, SS No. 111 920 joined the SS in April 1933 and was soon placed in an administrative position. He income of 200+ R.M. certainly enabled him to purchase a complete M1936 chained dagger without updating his M1933 dienstdolch. In 1942 Hellinger joined the Waffen-SS and served in the SS-Polizei Grenadier Division from July 1943 until the end of the war. He was awarded the KVK II mit Schwertern in 1944.

My experience has been that M36's that are numbered are less common than M33's and certainly the Röhm SS-Ehrendolches and those that are identifiable even more so.

Enjoy!

Ross... never seen a Type II skull link that looked quite like yours. It looks more like a Type III than a Type II.

As I think back on that Himmler it my be JR's I bought a few SS daggers off him years ago!

He might have sent some pics of items for sale back then!

The reason I believe now it could be his is the sharp detail pics of Himmler and Rohm daggers!

I was hoping he would add some pics to this thread but he is a big shot dealer now! shocked grin

Hard to get him to add anymore!

Maybe Gary has something to show!

How about JR's son! Its got to be in his blood! Show us some SS daggers little JR! Chris I believe!

Maybe you would like to add some thought so us collectors could learn a little about you!

What do you like!

Come on JR lets see some SS !

Here is the pic of JR, Son, Gary! At SOS this past year!

OK I had my fun so lets hope the Meda team steps up! whistle
