there is a Teno leader at an upcoming auction in germany - the number on the blade is stamped and not etched - in my opinion it is unlikely as eickhorn was the only maker of these daggers and I only ever seen the number etched - could it still be genuine?
thanks for your help

Agreed, the early ones were stamped on the blade. I believe Eickhorn owned the rights to the design of this dagger, so they are the only producer as far as I know.

I did a survey of the Eickhorn Teno series dagger blade markings a few years back. Survey was based on a total 94 EM hewers and Officer dirks observed in the old "Wittmann Offering" printed lists.

Officer dirks:-
stamped#, in the range 0346 - 1853. Exception, 3140

etched#, in the range 2353 - 3754. Exception, 8269

EM hewers:-
stamped#, in the range 0241 - 1417

etched#, in the range 2390 - 10256

I dont know if this survey answers anything and accuracy is dependant upon accuracy of the catalogue descriptions and my extraction of data therefrom. But, with a rare dagger like the Tenos' I think 94 surveyed is statistically significant.
