There must have been a warehouse full of these things after the war. 90 percent of the alum SMF swords i see are mint to near mint. Im not questioning there originatly. I have bought 2 or 3 from vets and vets estates over the years and they have all been close to mint.

have any of you collectors ever owned a sword that you bought new for your own use? when i was in the marines i bought one to use at a friends wedding.that is the only time i used it.sat in a closet after the wedding. did not even wear it at the wedding always in the way. i pulled it out of the scabbard maybe five times in the 20 years that i owned it. most all the wear is from the vet or his kids or even new collectors.how much use would a sword get in ww2 germany? not much i'll bet. just my opinion. paul

Totally agree with you there Paul, 99% of the wear on these dress side arms is done since the GI got his hands on it and brought it home!! Kevin.

you're fully right. My Armour Official saber, i may use it more time to open Champagne bottles than other use.
