Saw some nice swords at the SOS! Not much in nice silver Luft swords!

Maybe I missed them!

Nice navy swords and Ed sunday had the dancing army swords!

Lots of laquer and gild that sparkled!

Lights that hurt pics I took! Eds were really nice!

And no he didn't bring that stack of Luft swords that seemed to have been wrapped in tissue after being issued!

They are like his children! He like them all!

Ed
How did you find so many sweet swords!

I sold a couple of swords and bought a couple of swords at SOS... so I figure I came out even in the long run.

Here is a photo of one that I sold at the show.

And here is a photo of one that I bought at the show.

This one is an interesting Weyersberg sword that is shown in circa 1927 period catalogs as a Polizei-Offiziersabel or a Polizei-Schleppsabel fur Offiziere. This specific sword, with plain guard and langets, is made in Tombak.

This Police Sword never had a gilt finish it was simply polished (Glatt) Tombak. The blade is plain, the grip is sharkskin, and the leather scabbard is black.

Thanks Grumpy. Yep, it was an early step pommel Krebbs just as it came from the vet. You can't keep them all and besides I have another one just like it that I have had for 40 years.

You're right as I didn't see much in really nice silver or aluminum Luft goods. We did get quite a bit of action off the sword rack..........need more swords !

That was a fine early SS sword!

Wish I could have met you at SOS!

Ed

Yea Mr Fabulous always had fine swords!

The gilding is really fine on many of your swords!

Lights mess with showing how fine!

Many had lots of laquer and just popped out at you!

You have the knack for finding stunning examples!

Although not from the SOS I hope you like this too.
Those who are not familiar with this army saber, it´s the HERDER Rokoko I think Mod 1007.

Complimenting some other beauties, the Herder is certainly an eye catcher. And that Police sword is both rare and educational in the bargain as I had assumed that the sharkskin grips would almost completely have disappeared by then. Also very much appreciating that set of images that shows what a period Kriegsmarine Offiziersäbel für Unteroffizier mit Portepee looks like - which is a tough one to find. Best Regards to All, Fred

I have what is probably a dumb question concerning the third picture in this thread that shows a blade marking of No 3.
Isn't the German abbreviation for the word Nummer, supposed to be "Nr"?

Thank you for looking and appreciating the HERDER saber as much as I do.

@ Denny Gaither, both abbreviations, "Nr." as "No." are possible and were/are used. "No." is the abbrevation for the older form of "Nummero" which says the same as "Nummer".
