Thanks for showing John! Please tell us what you know about a funeral dagger! I had heard about them but really don't know background about them! Is this the Railroad funeral dagger? Ok just kidding! Will start a thread on this one!

There is some dispute about whether the black gripped Klaas Luft2 is just that or the 'funeral dagger'.
There is the picture I remember seeing of a Luft funeral where the mourners were showing their ordinary gripped Luft2s.
I personally think that this is just a grip colour variation confined to only a few daggers, mostly by Klaas.
That being said, I have in my collection a black gripped Eickhorn Navy.

Paul, Nice frozen orange juice tiger there, along with all the other great blades in this thread. How about a Deep-Purple Luft 2 by Holler. Serge

I have seen a photo of Eric Hartmann's wedding where he is leaving the church with an arch created by Luft 2nd Mod. Daggers and you can tell that one of them has a black grip, so they were a purchased non-funeral dagger variety IMO.

I've seen that photo also and it's undeniably a black gripped 2nd Luft dagger. Same for Army daggers. There are other legit companies besides Klaas that made a black gripped Army dagger grip (that were solid black celluloid, never been painted). -JMO, and I'm sticking to it. (Note this is not a Klaas grip on this 'Dog' Paul Seilheimer) -Serge-

WOW, Pvon, that glass grip is in great shape! Hard to find that condition...
Serge, That Holler Luft grip is really unusual, really looks purple! Have you looked at the top and bottom of the grip that is under the fittings?? The Sielheimer is great, that MM alone is special, but along with that grip..amazing!! Well done..Kevin.

"What makes you want a dagger!Color grip, maker, mint" - I would say: ALL TOGETHER. Here are three army officer daggers which most probably will never leave me. A midperiod HÖLLER worn during the period by one of my closest relatives, an until now one-of-a-kind HARTKOPF which did come from the grat son of the former wearer - therefore I do know the name of the wearer and an EICKHORN with pure ivory grip and stamped mm. all have the proper accoutrement but I decided to store them this way. The HARTKOPF was worn with this certain luft portepee, wrapped in this manner, therefore it was allowed to stay this way . Regards,

Wotan, THAT Hartkopf is REDICULOUSLY rare! Very nice condition too. I think the only mark that matches it in rarity may be the Gebr. Grafrath Heer...Kevin.

This has been one outstanding thread! So many daggers to look at and enjoy! GD members should really be happy that others are seeing the fruits of their labor! Even the the ones that won't show or say a word that could must be spitting dust! Thats always funny! My goal was to get this forum going again and a big thanks to all who show stuff or say a few words! If you haven't shown something or at least gave a thumbs up to those that did! Its not too late! I like this Lemon color handle!

Would also like to see gilding on swaz of luft daggers!
Its been a pleasure to observe so many fine looking daggers!
Would also like to know what you would like to find or makers you are hunting for!
Are their makers you want? Or can't get enough of?
Or maybe add a ivory like Baz!
Engraved blade? Killer navy?
Lets hear from you!
