I just looked a J P Sauer & Sohn 7.65 pistol. Marked with eagle swastika C, so I believe it to be it to be a police pistol. But the right grip has an HJ diamond. Diamond is not on top of the grip but Very nicely set into the grip. Diamond wobbles, is set into the grip by two pins, one at top & one at bottom. Like a cap diamond not tabs in the middle like HJ knife. Has anyone seen this before? I think it was done before it was captured. Any comments.

Barker,
There is no reason an E/C marked police pistol would have an HJ diamond inset into the grips during time of use. The pistol would have been police property and an item of issue. I feel certain the HJ insignia would have been inlet into the grip postwar. Perhaps to make a better trade item to GIs or something the GI had done to make it look pretty.
