Gentleman Could I get some opinions on this vertical hanger. Same type is shown in Whittmann's book on page 600 but his has no details to compare his pictured to the one I have.

In my opinion it is NOT good. The clip is pot metal (zinc diecasst) and it looks like the hangers that came on the older repros from the 70's made by Marto in Spain.

Zinc alloy clips were used in the period but to my knowledge not on SS or SA hangers. Jim

Agree. One chained (not SA/SS) dagger has a zinc clip with the sunken "DRGM" but I have never seen on on SA/SS/NSKK.
Note that there are no signs of repair, so that this was made with a bad clip.

Yes, absolutely an older repro from the 70s. I bought one of these about 15 years ago, the seller admitted it was a fake. But it looked nice and it was very cheap, so it filled a gap for a while. It is interesting to see that they added stitching to the bottom to make it more convincing. Mine lacks the stitching, but the clip is the dead giveaway!

I have recently seen one attached to an early numbered dagger, veteran acquired. It has has age and a perfect RZM stamp and a zinc clip. All other aspects are identical to known hanger construction under the RZM. The quality is outstanding and the leather has signs commensurate with being 80 years old as opposed to 40 why are there so few of these perfectly constructed and aged vertical hangers with zinc clips around????? they have to be somewhat mass produced to justify the cost and expense of production in 1970 they weren't worth $15 come on I have been attending SOS and Max for 25 years and Im not seeing them we have to have more than that to pronounce fake where were they marketed and sold??? any ads???? cheers Ryan
