Yes guys believe it or not I am rebuilding in the same spot! I've been there for 16 years without a drop of water,,,and yes this was the 2nd time in a year. But there is nothing I can do presently... I have 3 years left on my morgage.. It's an American dream [for some] type house/area,,,,,1/2 mile to the beach,,,5 min walk to the train that can take you to Manhattan in 30 min! Beautiful ,safe area. There are plenty of nites I've forgotten to lock my front door and don't worry a bit.. Great neighbors, multi cultural area.. 3 bedrooms,,2 baths, an office, central A/C, ,BBQ area out back and a veggi/herb ,garden,,and about 5 min to my shop!.. *I probably would sell but who would buy right now?! We have to stick it out,,hope for a few years of no hurricanes, people will forget and we'd be able to probably sell it.. But, we do love the area,,would not go far,,just hhigher! **Maybe something interesting,,we might be eligible with the help of FEMA and N.Y.State to actually raise the house! It is a long almost 2 year process, tons of paper work, insurance co.s, engineers, plans, inspectors etc. but if FEMA is in for 70% I am also in and would do it, thats how much we love this area.. Well wish we were set up enough to get a PC and service and be able to see all the cool ******** you guys been getting.I did lose probably 90% of my general collection,,,tunics, daggers/knifes, hats/caps, medals/badges/insignias,photos,documents, paperwork etc. But did manage to save my complete ring collection [a few hundred rings fit in a very small box!] Lost a lot of my families bringbacks. I have a few but they are badly rusted etc. * anyone want to try a full resto on a once decent early SA dagger? With Gods help we might be able to get back in the house by end of Feb.! Still a ton of problems and work to do. What ever money comes in from Ins.Co.,donations, goes right to the house and the family.. I am in there every day like work 10 hrs a day 6 days a week. Other than the $5k. start up money thats all we've recieved so far from flood insurance! Spending our lifes savings, beg, borrow, [but not stealing!]everything we can to keep going forward.. Again, thanks for all your help and support and most of all prayers. God bless,,,,Gaspare

Thanks for the update John.
Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. And remember the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

So sorry to see Gaspare have had this happen to him. Also, the great loss of history to the water. Never replaceable IMO.

Thanks for the update from G , John. Raising the house sounds like a good idea, wonder how much that might cost?
