miniature was together with the cross when I got it. Both belonged to a same man. There is a marker on the miniature but I am not sure is it L/11. or L/1. Can you determine something by those numbers on the case??????

The miniature is L/11 Deumer.
I feel the full size award is also Deumer but would prefer others give their opinion on this.

Case looks original to me. The pressed numbers and letters are I think maker codes. The pencil markings are I think assembly codes.

Here are some of the case codes:

621 KB : EK 1 , KVK 1 , Ostvolk awards 1 e class (depending on emblem stamped on lid)
622 KB : Spange EK 1
626 KB : LW Observers case + Pilots badge
629 KB : Wound badges ( encountered Silver and Gold )
630 KB : LW Airgunners badge
637 KB : German cross Gold

Hi Jim. It's always a good day when I get to learn. Then the pressed codes are for different awards. Did they go by size? Or base insert? I have much to learn about cases. I have only a small few and one is mismatched. EK1 insert in a KVK1 case. smile

Joe, no the number is for the case and doesn't depend on size. Desimir, it is not possible to say who made the case although Duemer has stamped their mark both inside and out on some of the cases that held their cross. Jim

So Jim, do you agree with Joe that full size award is Duemer?? Because that is what concerns me, I am pretty sure that previous owner did not switch cases.

I'm sorry I don't know crosses only spanges, so I can't answer the question. I should have also said that several makers stamped cases that they put their medals. Jim

Desimir, your KVK2 w. swds appears to have a maker mark on the ring.
Can you make it out?

Both appear to be early tombac base metal awards as opposed to later war zinc awards.

As to a soft ribbon, not a problem to my mind. If you have access to a black light see if it glows. Not a tell all test but somewhat use full.

If you wish I can probably get you in contact with some US patch collectors I know. What period are you interested in?

The symbols, Flag with a ruptured duck,
Veteran's Distinction. Awarded to individuals who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces of their country. The tab is the "Ruptured Duck" superimposed on the appropriate countries' flag.

You should also qualify for one if you served or are currently serving.

Hi Joe, thanks for your answers. My kvk w swrds is marked 100 WACHTLER UND LANGE, i know that, for that particular one main concern is it original or fake??????? I need authenticity and manufacturer for kvk without swords. Unfortunately I dont have a black light device and I dont know where to buy oNE.

In US militaria I am interested in modern patches, looking to get some Special forces patches and berets I don't have yet. I appreciate any contact you can provide me.
Please explain me how can I apply for a Ruptured Duck??
Thanks,
Regards, Desimir

With your permission I will give your e-mail contact info. to my patch collector friends. I will not post it publicly, only personally. They will probably be interested in trades.

Joe thank you very much for contacts. You can tell your friends I can make exchanges for modern Serbian army and police militaria or I will buy items from them. Thanks once again.

There is a reference book on KVK awards if I remember correctly. Anyone have a copy they could check?
