I am very new to this, and am not looking to spend a lot of money on one of these. I have researched and learned quite a bit thus far about these daggers. I would like to poll those that have much more time than myself invested in research and hands on experiences to determine if this may be something I should consider buying for my first dagger. What would the value on something like this be considered to be, or what kind of offer should I make to the seller who is asking $550 for it in this condition. Thanks for your time and comments. MZ, To be honest with you, this dagger has seen better days. Do yourself a favor and save your money. You'll see much better examples for the same money here in the for-sale section, from time to time. If you're a premium member and pay some fees, you'll also be able to post in the wanted-section. Any purchases that you might make here are pretty much guaranteed original, too. Take your time and find something nice. Best regards! Bill

Good advice from Bill, heed the voice of experience. I have a nephew who is a beginning collector, he has recently purchased a nice SA from GDC estand forum and at moderate cost.

Yes, Sir some good advice there. Best to buy your 1st one from someone you can trust. Guys here are always good to provide advice. There's nothing I hate more than seeing a newbie get burnt and exiting the hobby before he even gets started. Good luck my friend!

The dagger, although a scarce maker, is nowhere near worth the asking price. The thing to do is to buy the nicest one you can afford. Good advice to buy here. There are also some honest dealers you can trust, but they are likely to be a bit pricier than a collector. Pass on the one you asked about and wait for a nicer one. It probably won't cost you any more than this one and should cost less, depending on a number of factors. Remember in whatever you collect, condition is at the top of the list, along with rarity and desirability.

Thanks for everyones input. The seller said $350 would be the absolute lowest. That wasn't close to my other offer either. I like all the character that it has, but I realize condition is big with these types of items. I do Mosins, so lots of character is by no means a deal breaker in that respect. I will be lurking further and researching for a good purchase.

Agreed save you money and buy a choice one from somebody on this site. But try not to buy from a dealer unless you have a lot of extra money to spend.

$350 is not bad for this ,, If you want to spend 3x that for a choice dagger, take a look at the one I have listed here. You get what you pay for, like anything else.
