I would like a nice, representative German Heer Army dagger.
I think I will abandon my attempts to find one on my own (although I am sort of 'hooked' on these daggers, so who knows?)
It doesn't have to be perfect, but I don't want one that is a mess, either.
I have found some at dealers, but as someone else pointed out in this forum I would probably get a better price from a collector who was willing to sell.
Before I buy a premium membership and advertise in the 'wanted' section, could anyone tell me what they think I might reasonably expect to pay for such a dagger?
Thank you.

So, if I were to find one from a dealer that was $280, should I be suspicious?
Would it be kosher to post that photo here to see if it is real? Or should I try to figure it out on my own, which may be difficult since I know so little.
I hate to be a bother to all of you who are so well-versed in thse things, but I really want a dagger as part of the collection that my Dad donated -- and which I wish he had given to me.
Thanks, all!

Just look in the for sale section they are frequently being offered. one of our members "BG Relics" frequently picks up some good stuff and he is a first rate guy to deal with.

I've looked in the "For Sale" section, but maybe I didn't go back far enough.
I will look again.
Thank you.

I agree with the buy from "bgrelics" idea. Best quality for the price. Wait for one you like so you won't think about upgrading later. I'd check the "for sale" section about twice a day though. Sometimes the good ones go really fast.

Hello "stuka rick", let me welcome you to the forum.
We see that you have reopended several old threads which is totally ok when you have another opinion than those already in the thread or if you do have the feeling you should add something.
To add a request for worth to a thread of 2012 in 2017 does not make much sense.
In case you do not know how things do work, you can easily recognize the topicality of a thread or post when looking at the marked section.
Regards,
