Hello all,
Did Eickhorn subcontract a small run of daggers with the only descernable difference being the absence of the "original" on the trademark? Any opinions on this one?

Your question was beat to death years ago on this site. Try a site search. I think the final answer was that the trademark is accepted as good by most dealers. I'm not sure about the subcontract part. The dagger is a beauty.

The same goes for Eickhorn SAs... I have seen them with and without 'Original' and both versions are assumed to be the real deal.

Notice how thick the scabbard thoat is.That is an Eickhorn trait. It's right as rain (Which is rare these days)

Thank you. Can anyone put an estimated value on a dagger in this condition for me? I know what SS daggers go for typically but I don't exactly see daggers in minty condition like this one for sale ever.

Is this a painted grip?
Could you show some pics of this vertical hanger? Is it a unmarked "4 rivet" type?
Thanks, Gerd

I'm with the boyz on the vertical being non-period. Also the 941/38 Eickhorns did come with painted black grips that were factory done that way. I've seen a few that all had the same characteristics.

Thanks for the additional pics, but i agree in regards to the grip and hanger. The vertical looks different to the ones which i've seen with four rivets. First off,the hook and the edge of the leather.I'm not sure if i have a pic from one of these, but i'll check my references. It also looks like, the grip was brown before.

Indeed, it looks as though the grip may had be repainted in black. I don't really like the rought painted texture at the bottom of the grip, I would think that is should be a lot smoother. Good eye, I hadn't seen it.
