Perhaps I should have posted them in this posting.

Michael

Hello Michael,

Thanks for the update on the other dagger, and I will have a closer look at it tomorrow when I have more time. One thing I did not see in a brief peek was that there did not seem to be any pictures of the blade in the scabbard (to check out the fit). With the finish on the bare metal surfaces also of interest because I've seen what (very) aged nickel plating looks like. But can't decide if that is what I'm seeing with the (other) dagger or not without looking into it a little more.

Robert thank you. smile I've sent a PM, although it will most likely be late when I get back, so it may take until sometime tomorrow before I do a followup

I thought that there were definitive forum rules for declaring an item as a "fake" such as stating the reasons why...not to ruffle feathers but the purpose of this forum is to share and to educate...not to defame or condemn JMO....cheers, Ryan

I believe the point has already been made, and Robert's comparison regarding the mix of type 1 and type 2 hardware in the chains is the crux of the matter.

These started appearing in 2010 as far as I can tell, and were readily available on an European on-line dealer's site. These do not match up to any know configuration and exhibit many of the characteristics of the earlier and now mostly obsolete "Russian Fakes". Thanks to collectors pointing out the problems with these they have all but vanished.

Here are a few of this vintage fake that I have in my archive, all from 2010. Focus on the differences between type 1 & 2 chains and the problems with these become very apparent...

IMO, you should listen to the knowledgeable members who have already posted negative opinions on those SS chains. I believed that those chains were added to some (possibly good) M33 scabbards but I would not be able to tell you when this was done or if it is still being done...
